Most people know the old school definition of a hot rod... Camaro, Firebird, T-bucket, Charger, Challenger, you name it. My question is what makes a hotrod a hot rod by today's standards? Is a rice racer a hotrod? For that matter is the new GTO a hotrod? It has a Corvette engine and suspension but it's tiny, a lot like a rice racer. If an old pickup truck can be turned into a hotrod, can an S10 that's race ready be considered a hotrod?

So many things change everyday in that scene, it's almost impossible to keep up with it all. There are more and more sub- cultures within the car culture all the time. Of course motorcycles go hand in hand with four wheel vehicles. Are there any lines in the sand any more?

Personally I'm thrilled to see all the sub-cultures have more and more in common all the time. I've always loved big trucks, fast cars, and loud motorcycles. In the past I've had strong biased opinions, Ford trucks, Cadillac cars, and Harley Davidson motorcycles and that was it. I have a much bigger perspective and less opinions and a way more open mind now.

I'm curious what you think. Please comment. Let me know if you have an opinion or not and what that opinion is.

What goes around comes back around. Life is a series of choices. Everything you do can have either a positive or negative effect on you and the people connected to you. Remember that next time you make a sacrifice even if no one will ever know you made it. Cause and effect, the more of yourself you give willingly, that much more multiplied will come back to you.

'69 Chevel

My last post on this page I mentioned my grandpa's dream car, Duisenberg. This one is about my buddy Brint's dream car, a '69 Chevel. He owns it. He did a frame up on it and it turned out amazing. It's everything that a classic muscle car could ever wish to be and more. It'll stand up off the line every time, I know, I rode in it.
Well he's had a revelation. He's decided that it's more important to help needy children than seek a thrill on Saturday night. He's decided to sell the car and use the money to help others. This car was appraised at 36k and he's just letting it go (for the right price) so he can make a difference to some poor kids in another country. Talk about a noble cause.

Grandpa

I've just been thinking about my grandpa Levin the last couple days. If you haven't heard, he passed away a few months ago. In all honesty, he's way better off now than when he was with us. He was stuck in a place where he couldn't live life to the fullest for the last couple/ few years of his life. He lived his whole life for one purpose, to serve God. Now he's experiencing the reward- eternity in heaven with God. It took him 80 years to get there, but now he's home. Death makes most people sad, but I'm glad for him because it's the way he would want me to feel about it. I can imagine him up there right now, I'll bet he finally got that '32 Duisenberg that he dreamed about his whole life. He's driving up and down the streets that have no names.

Reality

First of all, I know that this what I'm supposed to be doing for a job at this point in my life. This is the purpose that God created me for. The reality of it is that this is volunteer work for a non-profit organization. That means in order for me to eat, I need to find people who are willing to sponsor me.
The biggest help that anyone can give is to pray for me. I love this job but it can be stressful sometimes. Early mornings, late nights, and long days in between. It's all a learning experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
When I left Minnesota, I thought I was coming down here to be on the maintenance crew, but I've actually been doing more with the school than anything. This is cool because I'm finding out that this is what I'd rather do anyway. I can use my own life as an example for everyone here in one way or another.
I've also started realizing that this is a dream that I've had for a couple years now, to work with, council, encourage, and be an example for other people of my generation. This isn't exactly what I had in mind then, but at that point I didn't really know what I wanted anyway. This is at least a good place to start. Also I feel at home here. It's on the job training and it's ideas, principals, and information that I'll use for the rest of my life. Hopefully I'll make a difference in many other people's lives along the way.
I can use my own war stories, horror stories, pain, downfalls, successfulness, good fortunes, failures, victories, triumphs, and heydays for examples to other people in similar situations. Nothing I've done or seen is wasted if I can help someone else through their own trials. The bottom line is that God gets all the glory for lives (including mine) being changed. That is the goal of YWAM, to know God and make Him known. I wouldn't be here now if it weren't for Him helping me through all the adventures that life has thrown at me over the years. I wouldn't trade any part of my life, easy or hard, for anything, I'd do it all over the same.
I hope, if you've read down this far, you'll start to see my vision and the passion that I have for what I'm doing. Just know that whatever you can donate in any form, things, time, or money is appreciated. Also keep in mind that even if you don't have anything to donate the most important thing that I need is prayer. If everyone prays even a little bit for me, it adds up and makes a difference.
